Our sciatica exercise for this week is the Double Knees To Chest Stretch! The sciatic nerve runs from the back of your pelvis all the way down both legs and ending at your feet. The Double Knees to Chest exercise is designed to help relieve your sciatic pain and improve your flexibility in the lower back.
When a person experiences back pain of some sort, one of the most simple ways of treating it is to apply heat or ice to the injured area. It can be very effective, and it is very easy for anyone to do at home. However, it is also one of the most misunderstood therapies in back pain treatment, because many people do not know when it is best to use ice instead of a heating pad, and vice-versa.
Russ was doing a favor for his daughter by building a deck for her wedding shower. However, while working on the deck he ended up rupturing a disc in his back. The pain was severe, and got so bad that he could barely work. He was taking painkillers constantly and tried other treatments to relieve the pain but nothing seemed to work. He feared he would have to resort to surgery to help relieve his pain. Fortunately, he found out about the Illinois Back Institute and came to see us for treatment instead.
The focus of this week's Live Cooking Experience from the IBI kitchen was on making some quick and easy anti-inflammatory snacks for the big game on Sunday. On the menu for this week are delicious recipes for a Garlic Ranch Dip, and a Mango Salsa! Both of these recipes are made from ingredients with anti-inflammatory properties that can help relieve back pain!
