Sciatica Stretch of the Week: Hip Flexor Stretch

Our Tip Of The Week about how to relieve your Back Pain and Sciatica is a stretch called the Hip Flexor Stretch!

The hip flexor is made up of two muscles called the illiacus and psoas muscles, and these two collectively are called the iliopsoas muscle. These muscles are attached to the lumbar spine and pelvis. Prolonged sitting increases the tightness in the hip flexor muscles, and if those muscles are tight it will alter body mechanics and posture which can affect your sciatica pain. Therefore, increased flexibility of the iliopsoas muscle is extremely important in order to decrease the severity of sciatica and lower back pain symptoms.

Debbie Suffered From Bulging And Herniated Discs Due To Multiple Car Accidents

Car accidents can be devastating, not only to the car but also the people inside the car. Debbie knows that all too well. She was involved in multiple car accidents and her back was suffering because of it.

Her doctors told her that a herniated disc and a bulging disc were causing her back pain, and thinking surgery was her only option Debbie went under the knife for a spinal fusion. Unfortunately the surgery didn't work and she was still in pain. She then tried spinal injections and more traditional therapy but nothing was helping.

Then finally Debbie found the Illinois Back Institute.
