- The fundamental principle is what we call the chain reaction.
- The secondary principle has to do with functional movement which occurs during the golf swing.
The first principle for Tiger is the effect of changes in the chain reaction. What does that mean? Movement of the body is the result of chain reactions; specific movement will cause other reactions both up the chain and down the chain. It’s like the old saying “the foot bone is connected to the leg bone, and the leg bone is connected to the knee bone.” The sport of golf entails explosive movements of the golf swing and we need all our muscle doing what they should be doing at the right time and if not the result is a breakdown in the chain reaction.

If you can’t lighten your bag protect your back by using a pull-cart bag on the golf course and by buying the lightest golf bag that you can. Make sure to do stretching exercises before and after your golf game to help prevent back pain.
Please join the Illinois Back Institute for our 2nd Annual “Chicago Legends” Charitable Golf Outing on Friday, August 10th, 2012. This outing will benefit two incredible organizations which include: Dr. Jeff Foundation and Normal Moments. These organizations are devoted to helping parents with critically ill children in the home, in hospitals, and through web resources so that families can enjoy as many normal moments as possible as they deal with their child’s illness. With your support we can once again make a difference in these children’s lives.

If possible, bring your own seating to the game or a seat cushion if you have to sit in bleachers or stadium seats. If you can bring any type of portable product that provides support to your lower back while sitting will help.
