Avoid Back Pain While Gardening - Weeding

Weeding – Bending and twisting over at the waist for extended periods is a good way to strain your back muscle and cause you back pain. Go to your local department or hardware store and purchase a rubber gardening mat and or a wheeled gardening stool. Use the rubber gardening mat to kneel on. Use the wheeled gardening stool to sit on while weeding or you can sit directly on the ground. Try not to bend over for too long. Always take breaks and stretch! Don’t forget to keep your gardening tools close at hand!

When you put your bag over one shoulder, it interferes with the natural movement of the upper and lower body. Select a briefcase with an adjustable strap. Switch sides frequently to avoid placing the burden on one side Take the time to empty unnecessary items out of your bag.
