Our Sciatica Stretch this week is called the Piriformis Foam Roll Massage! One of the symptoms caused by sciatica includes buttock pain, and we target that area using the foam roll along with this stretch. The foam roll can be one of the greatest tools to utilize when suffering with back and sciatica pain. This stretch is going to increase the extensibility of your tissue and promote more blood flow to the target area, which will in turn promote more healing. It is also good for your balance.
There are many reasons why someone may have back pain. However, one of the most common reasons is also one of the most well known: poor posture. Most people have been told since they were children how important posture is, and were probably reminded often to sit or stand up straight, stop slouching, or be careful how you bend. That last part is crucial, and this week's tip is going to focus on that with something we call The Hip Hinge.
In the first part of our sciatica series we discussed some basic facts and anatomy of the human spine, and then talked about the first two most common causes of Sciatica: the Herniated Disc and the Bulging Disc. This part continues that discussion with the other three common causes.
Most people know that most vegetables are good for your health, but many don't realize just why they are and what they can do for your body. Vegetables come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, textures, colors, and flavors; and believe it or not, the differences in those properties can tell you what benefits the vegetable has!
