Sciatica Stretch of the Week: Piriformis Stretch
The piriformis is located in the buttocks region, and the piriformis muscle runs close to the sciatic nerve so it can irritate the nerve and cause sciatic pain.
When the piriformis muscle becomes tight and/or inflamed it can irritate the sciatic nerve. This can lead to a tingling and numbness that runs from the lower back all the way down the leg and even into your foot.

Shirley's Back Pain Made Her Feel Like She Was In The Way
Shirley was an active person, both in the classroom as a teacher, and outdoors with her family. But all of that ended after she started having back pain.
Unfortunately, none of the traditional treatments that she tried to relieve her pain worked. Eventually the pain got so bad that she had to retire from teaching, and whenever she would go places with her family she felt like she was in the way.
She hated that feeling, and knew she needed to do something. So she came to the Illinois Back Institute.
