Herniated Disc Part 7: The Science Behind Eliminating Herniated Discs

Posted by Illinois Back Institute on Fri, Jul 10, 2015 @ 04:37 PM

Herniated_Disc7This is Part 7 in our series all about Herniated Discs. If you missed Part 6, Click Here!

In part six we discussed some of the most common all natural treatments for Herniated Discs. These treatments included:

  • Keeping it easy
  • Using heating pads and ice packs
  • Exercising
  • Doing Yoga and other forms of Stretching
  • Improving your diet
  • Getting massage therapy
  • Acupuncture treatments
  • Get more Vitamin D

Each of these natural treatments can definitely help with relieving minor pains due to a Herniated Disc. But, the problem is that even if the pain goes away, it is usually only temporary because the cause of the pain, the herniated disc, is still there. And when the pain does come back, it is very often worse or becomes chronic. That is when your doctor will start recommending more serious treatments such as physical therapy, narcotics, spinal injections, and eventually surgery.

But none of these treatments treat the actual disc, they just cover up the injury and mask the pain!

The reason that our treatment, called Functional Disc Rehydration, is so effective is because it specifically targets the Herniated Disc, and heals it. If you recall from Part One of this series, we discussed just what herniated discs are: they occur when a disc becomes damaged and suffers a rupture on its side, causing the "jelly" inside to leak out. This jelly that is leaking out sometimes presses against a nerve and causes pain.

The Functional Disc Rehydration treatment works in a way that no other treatment does. It relieves pressure from off of the herniated disc, which allows nutrients and oxygen to re-enter it, and re-hydrate it. At the same time, therapy is used to strengthen the muscles and stabilize the spine. The combination of these things has been shown to repair herniated discs and relieve pain!

Herniated_Disc_wiener1To validate the treatment and prove it works, we commissioned a study with a medical researcher from a major west coast university. The study involved 50 patients with ages ranging from 39 to 83, who all had chronic back pain and had already tried several treatments including acupuncture, chiropractic therapy, spinal injections, and surgery. The study's results were unbelievable:

  • All patients experienced disc rehydration of at least 18 percent after just ONE Functional Disc Rehydration treatment!
  • Therapy of over 10 weeks resulted in rehydration of the disc of 80 percent!
  • Every single patient in the study experienced a complete elimination of their Herniated and Bulging Discs

These results are extremely important because they show that Functional Disc Rehydration can relieve the pinching on the nerve by the disc herniation, thus eliminating the cause of the pain. Our treatment was able to get the jelly that leaked out to move back inside the disc, and heal the rupture. And it does all of this without any drugs, injections, or surgery!

Part 8 will continue this discussion by showing examples of how our treatment was able to eliminate patients' Herniated Discs.
