sciatica_stretch9 - Hip Flexor 600x220

Sciatica Stretch of the Week: Hip Flexor Stretch

The hip flexor is made up of two muscles called the illiacus and psoas muscles, and these two collectively are called the iliopsoas muscle. These muscles are attached to the lumbar spine and pelvis.

Prolonged sitting increases the tightness in the hip flexor muscles, and if those muscles are tight it will alter body mechanics and posture which can affect your sciatica pain.

Therefore, increased flexibility of the iliopsoas muscle is extremely important in order to decrease the severity of sciatica and lower back pain symptoms.

After 15 Years Of Back Pain, Danielle Can Run And Play With Her Kids Again

On October 5th we celebrate World Teacher's Day, and Illinois Back Institute would like to acknowledge all of the hardworking teachers and thank them for everything they do!

The following testimonial is about a teacher whose back pain was preventing her from being able to do her job effectively, and also being able to live her life fully.

Danielle is a physical education teacher who also coaches track and cross country at her school. She first came to us after seeing one of our commercials, and she thought, "What the heck?"

She had been suffering with back pain since she was just out of high school, and had already gone to see several doctors for help, but their treatments were ineffective. She was in constant pain now and was looking for any way to help relieve it.

So she decided to give the Illinois Back Institute a try.
