How To Treat Sciatica – Amanda McKenzie

Posted by Dr. Jeff Winternheimer D.C. on Fri, Nov 15, 2013 @ 02:35 PM

Amanda McKenzie was dealing with chronic back pain along with Sciatica for the past 10 years. Her pain was so intense it would radiate down both legs down to her foot. The pain began after one of her four hip surgeries.

More surgery was not an option for Amanda so she turned to physical therapy and steroid shots. “I was getting those steroid injections in the back and they really did not help me,” said Amanda. Both physical therapy and the steroid injections were just a temporary relief. Amanda was given too many injections over a year and she still was in constant pain. “The injections just only gave me relief for maybe one or two days and then the back would start hurting again.”

Amanda came into the Illinois Back Institute and had an MRI done that showed she is suffering from sciatica. After only 3 weeks of treatment Amanda says, “I feel my back getting a little bit stronger.”  She no longer is feeling as much pressure on her sciatic nerve because of the treatment. For the first time in a long time Amanda was able to get up in the morning to attend prayer and then make it to her Illinois Back Institute appointment without having to stop and rest. Amanda is feeling her energy level rising more every week. “With the lesson of the pain I feel my energy level is going up.”

When we asked Amanda if she would recommend the Illinois Back Institute she said, “I recommend anyone that has sciatica pain, cause that’s the worst pain I think there is!”
