Alan Itzkowitz came into the Illinois Back Institute after having spinal surgery. He had a laminectomy done on 2 of his discs (L4-L5). The surgery seemed to relieve his symptoms of pain going down the front of his thighs and quads caused by spinal stenosis. Alan was feeling way better but was still dealing with constant soreness daily. “I still had a lot of soreness and needed a way to relieve that,” said Alan Itzkowitz.
Alan’s son had gone through therapy at Illinois Back Institute and had a successful outcome. Alan then thought instead of going to another orthopedic doctor he would give IBI a try. His MRI showed he was also suffering from a bulging disc and herniated disc. His pain level wasn’t super high when he started treatment so it was usually anywhere between a 2-5. Alan was mainly just dealing with large amount of soreness.
“I learned, you know, the stretching to do, exercises to do and when I would do those in the morning that would start bringing the pain level and soreness level down. It got to the point where I would wake up at a 1 or 2 and do the stretches and some exercises and I would be almost at a zero. It’s really been good for me!” said Alan Itzkowitz
Alan now feels he can do everything he wants to do with ease. Everything is a lot less painful. When we asked Alan if he had a goal at the beginning of treatment and he said, “Yes, I did have a goal and that was to wake up in the morning and not be sore and I’ve met that goal.”
Alan feels very positive about his future being pain free. Not only has the therapy helped him but he has enjoyed his time at our Arlington Heights clinic. He explains the clinic as a caring environment and has had some really good experiences. Alan plans to keep up with his stretches and exercises and he is confident that he will stay away from any type of back soreness in the future.
