While running track in college Danielle Freeman started to suffer with back pain. For the last 16 years Danielle had continued to suffer with back pain. When she went to doctors they recommended she cease all activity. Danielle knew that would not be possible for her since she is an active runner and a physical education teacher. The pain would increase whenever she ran. Also, each time Danielle was pregnant the pain would worsen. Over the years she was giving painkillers, a back brace, and was mainly told the only thing she could do is take medication and rest.
Danielle came into the Illinois Back Institute with a pain level of an 8 or 9 out of 10. Her MRI showed the cause of her back pain being a bulging disc in her l5. When Danielle first came in she was unable to run for long periods of time or play with her children. She has two twin 1 year olds and the pain made it impossible to hold them. Danielle’s goal was to leave our therapy able to play with her kids and to get back to being active by getting in the gym and running for long periods of time.
Danielle is currently in her 3rd month of treatment and already has accomplished her goals! “I feel like this is something I can maintain throughout my life. These are things I can so on my own. So I will be able to be an active person and I can enjoy my family pain free,”said Danielle. Danielle was given the tools to continue having a healthy back in her future so that she will never have to deal with extreme back pain again.
“I love coming to my appointments!” Danielle has really enjoyed the Arlington Heights staff and feels they were very knowledgeable. The treatment is a large commitment but the outcome is worth it and definitely worth trying. “What I like the most is that there are multiple treatments in one room. I get to see a physical therapist, a chiropractor, a medical doctor all in the same visit without having to go other places and its been very successful for me,” said Danielle Freeman
