Illinois Back Institute patient Will Hunt had been suffering from severe lower back pain for many years. In 1987 he decided to go ahead with his first back surgery. This surgery focused on his sciatica. Unfortunately, after 5 years the pain came back. Will’s pain was so intense that he felt the only option was to keep going under the knife. Before coming to the Illinois Back Institute Will had a total of 4 back surgeries and each time the surgery was only a temporary solution and was looking for a permanent solution.
More than 500,000 Americans have major surgery each year for their back pain. Back surgery is one of the most expensive procedures and overly invasive. Statistics have shown that back surgery may just be a temporary fix and can cause complications like nerve damage and can cause even more pain. 1 in 5 people who undergo back surgery will need another operation within a decade.
After his fourth surgery the pain came back more intense than ever. A friend of his wife suggested he come to the Illinois Back Institute before looking into having another surgery. Will came in and after our MD reviewed his MRI Will learned he had a bulging disc and 2 collapsed discs. The Illinois Back Institute we were able to find the problem and using our protocol with Functional Disc Rehydration. Will is now living pain free.
