The simple fact is that society for the most part is in such a hurry that they are not being as careful as they should. People are always in a rush to get to their destination, so they want to get out of the car as quickly as possible. Then at the same time they are often on their phones, have their hands full, or something similar. Because they are trying to juggle so many things at once, they are not paying enough attention and being careful with their back. And this is when injuries can occur!

It is important to realize that certain positions and movements can really cause damage to your back. Unfortuntately, a lot of people move in these ways when exiting their car and end up hurting themselves. There is a right and wrong way to get out of a car, so remember these tips to make sure you are doing it properly:

  • The number one thing to remember is to never twist your back! This is the worst thing you can do and the easiest way to hurt yourself. Twisting causes a lot of added stress on your spine and can quickly cause back pain.
  • Also, make sure to take your time when exiting your car. You may be in a hurry, but it is not worth it if it makes you careless and you end up hurt.
  • There are three simple steps to getting out of your car correctly: First, get ready to exit by putting your left hand on the side or shoulder of the car seat and the right hand on the steering wheel. Next, turn your legs and body at the same time, so you are not twisting your back at all. Finally, stand up with your knees and hips while using your arms as support. Avoid using your back to stand up straight as much as possible.

By remembering these simple tips and being cautious, you can avoid back pain while exiting your car!
