This is Tip #4 of foods that can help improve the overall health of your back. Today's focus is cherries. Cherries are a great food for your back because they are full of antioxidants and other compounds that reduce inflammation. For example, cherries contain substances called anthocyanins, which provide the cherry's color and also have strong anti-inflammatory properties. Cherries also contain melatonin, which helps with inflammation (and can also help you sleep). In fact, some researchers have found that cherries have the highest anti-inflammatory content of any food!
Cherries are great because they are a quick and easy food. You can buy cherries and eat them plain, or you can drink cherry juice if you prefer, or you can have some fun with them and add them into a healthy meal or a snack. Here is a tasty recipe that includes cherries and makes for a great snack!
