Case Study - 82 Year Old Woman Suffered With Back Pain And Sciatica For Over 20 Years Until Our Treatment Saved Her

Lower back spine.jpgA 82 year old woman contacted our clinic about her back problems. She said she had been having pain in her lower back for 20 years, and it only got worse as she got older. It originally started in her back, but had now also continued into her hips and down to her knee. She had seen doctors and had some traditional treatments done but nothing would relieve her back pain and sciatica. She had pretty much given up hope and resigned to the fact that her back pain was just a consequence of getting older.

During her years of back pain, the patient had been to three different doctors to try and treat her condition. She had also tried a few different things that she hoped would help her, including:

  • Chiropractic therapy
  • Message therapy
  • Over the Counter medications
  • NSAIDs

It was at this point that she came to Illinois Back Institute, desperate to find some way to relieve her back pain. She had heard about our non-invasive, non-surgical treatment and was hopeful that it would work on someone of her age. Our staff reviewed her history and MRI, and came to the conclusion that she was suffering from the following conditions:

When she came in for her first treatment, she reported her pain level as a 7 (out of 10, with 10 being the worst pain imaginable), and her Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) score was a 30 (out of 100). The ODI is a scale used as an indicator of disability, and a score of 30 is considered a Moderate Disability. After 4 weeks of treatments her pain level was down to a 3. After 8 weeks, her sciatica pain was gone. By the end of her treatments, she had minimal pain in her lower back and she was able to move around better than she had in years.

This woman had been living with back pain for 20 years, and had resigned herself to thinking it was just a normal part of life. But it doesn't have to be! Our non-surgical treatment was able to relieve her back pain so that it is nearly non-existant, and she now feels better than she has in years. If you have been suffering with back pain, whether it be for 2 months, 2 years, or 20 years, we can help you!
