This 15 Year Old's Back Pain and Sciatica Were Extreme, But Our Treatment Completely Relieved Her Pain!

Posted by Illinois Back Institute on Thu, Apr 13, 2017 @ 05:13 PM

You are never too young or too old to experience severe back pain and sciatica. Such is the case with the subject of this study, who was only 15 years old when she came to us in terrible pain. She was very active in sports and other activities, but she did not realize that all of the things she was doing was causing damage to accumulate in her back until one day it finally gave out and she woke up in terrible pain. She had been in pain for only a month when she came to us for help, but her pain level was already a 10!

Before seeing us she had consulted with her regular doctor and tried traditional physical therapy, along with taking anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxers. But she was still in tremendous pain. When she came to our clinic we tested her on the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), which measures how much her back pain is impacting her life. She scored a 70 out of 100, which indicated her back pain was crippling and was affecting all facets of her life.

We ordered a MRI of her spine and determined that her back pain and sciatica were being caused by a large bulging disc in her lower back. Her treatment began immediately, and she slowly began making progress and feeling better and better. By the time she had finished her final treatment, she no longer felt any pain and her ODI was a zero!

Although rare, 15 year olds and people even younger can end up with severe back pain and sciatica. But our treatment is just as effective with them as it is with adults. If you are in pain we can help you too!
