Every week, Illinois Back Institute sends out five of our best back pain tips, stretches, diet tips, case studies, and informational articles. Much of the back pain that people suffer with is caused by not lifting correctly. One of the main ways this occurs is because people lift objects immediately after getting up from a prone position. This can be very bad for your back. Too much activity after prolonged periods of sitting or lying down can result in back pain. If you have been off of your feet for a while, it is extremely important to wait to pick up anything or do anything aggressive with your back once you stand up.

Our number 8 Sciatica Stretch is called the Hamstring Stretch. It is extremely important to have adequate hamstring flexibility so that you can improve your body mechanics and posture. If your hamstrings are too tight, it can alter those mechanics and affect your Sciatica pain.

The #7 Diet Tip in our ongoing series on foods that can help with the health of your back is Berries. In one of our previous tips we discussed why Cherries are a great food for your back; and while cherries and berries are not related (cherries are related to plums, peaches, and almonds), berries are also a great food because they contain some of the same substances that cherries do which can help to improve your back health.
