The Week's Best Back Pain And Sciatica Relief Tips From The Illinois Back Institute
Each week the Illinois Back Institute sends out some of our best tips and informational articles about back pain, because it's proven that the more you understand about your back pain, the more likely you are to eliminate it!
The Illinois Back Institute treats and eliminates back pain, by focusing on the cause of the pain. And we do it without any drugs, injections, or surgery! Some of the conditions that we treat include:
▪︎ Herniated Discs
▪︎ Bulging Discs
▪︎ Degenerated Discs
If you are suffering with back or neck pain, either from one of these conditions or something else, we can help! Your first step is to schedule a Free Consultation, where you will meet with a Patient Advocate who will answer your questions, review your case, and determine your correct course of treatment.
There is no obligation, and the consultation is completely free!
Did you know that Illinois Back Institute goes Live on our Facebook page several times each week? During these videos we discuss topics such as educational information about back pain and sciatica, some of our patient outcomes, questions that people might have, and more!
Our sciatica exercise for this week is the Lunge! Lunges are very simple to do, and they are great because they strengthen your quads and hamstrings while also helping with your balance. This is important because the stronger these muscles are, the less likely you are to use your back when you lift objects, thus helping to prevent and relieve sciatica and back pain!
When people have back pain, they almost never consider that the way they are breathing could have any kind of impact on it. Most people don't even realize that they can breathe in different ways. And surprisingly, breathing the wrong way can actually make your back pain worse!
Being a Hall of Fame football player in the NFL puts a toll on your body and your back. Dan Hampton knows about this all too well, because due to the beating his body took he was suffering from a bulging disc, herniated disc, and sciatica. It got so bad for the Hall of Famer that he was having trouble tying his own shoes. He came to the Illinois Back Institute for help, with his goal being able to get back to doing the little things, like hitting a golf ball. After our treatment he was Pain Free and able to get back on the golf course again.
This week's Diet Tip about foods that can help relieve your back pain is Fish! There's a good chance that you have heard fish (and/or fish oil) can be good for you. There's one simple reason why: it's because they contain something called Omega-3 Fatty Acids. And while your first reaction is that there is no way something called a fatty acid could be good for you, Omega-3's are a great way to relieve pain!
