The Illinois Back Institute Is Becoming A World Leader In The Treatment Of Back Pain And Sciatica

Posted by Illinois Back Institute on Tue, Jun 27, 2017 @ 04:41 PM

Illinois Back Institute is becoming a world leader in the treatment of back pain that is related to sciatica, herniated discs, bulging discs, degenerated discs, stenosis, failed back surgery, pinched nerves, and spondylolisthesis.

Recently a study was commissioned to compare the treatment protocol of the Illinois Back Institute to that of other nationally recognized physical therapy clinics. The subjects in the study were patients who had previously had treatment from a physical therapist, a chiropractor, received steroid injections, and had narcotics for pain. This study showed that for patients suffering from chronic back pain due to sciatica, bulging discs, degenerated discs, herniated discs, stenosis, and spondylolisthesis, IBI's treatment provided larger decreases in pain and improvements of physical function compared to the other clinics.

The patients recruited for this study had on average an Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability score of 46.8/100 and a Numeric Pain score of 7.62/10 where 10 is the worst pain possible.

Research has shown that a change in score of at least 20 points in the Oswestry Disability Index is clinically meaningful.
