This week's Sciatica Stretch is the Hip Flexor Stretch! Prolonged sitting increases the tightness in the hip flexor muscles, and if those muscles are tight it will alter body mechanics and posture which can affect your sciatica pain. Therefore, increased flexibility of the these muscles is extremely important in order to decrease the severity of sciatica and lower back pain symptoms.
Much of the back pain that people suffer with is caused by not lifting objects correctly. Knowing the correct way to lift can help your back in several ways; most importantly it can prevent back pain. The biggest mistake that people make is that they lift objects using only their back. This puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the back and can lead to muscle strains and disc problems such as a bulging or herniated disc.

So keeping them loose and relaxed can be crucial for preventing any additional stress from causing even more pain.
