The first day of October is World Vegetarian Day, and it's a good time to remind everyone about how vital vegetables are for your daily diet. After all, they are a crucial source of vitamins, potassium, fiber, and other nutrients that your body needs to maintain good health!
One of October's Vegetables of the Month is Turmeric. This superfood is amazing, not only because it provides those vital nutrients your body needs, but it also contains many other beneficial properties that can help to relieve back pain and other health problems as well!
Most people know Turmeric as the main spice in the Indian food Curry; in fact it is what gives Curry its yellow color. The Indian people have been using it for thousands of years, not just as a spice but as a medicinal herb as well. Turmeric's beneficial properties include:
- Turmeric is a very powerful anti-inflammatory substance. It has been found to be nearly as powerful as some anti-inflammation medications, and does not have the side effects that those medications might.
- It is a very strong antioxidant, which helps protect you from the bad "free radicals" in your body.
- It is also a natural painkiller, antiseptic, and antibacterial agent, and can actually help speed up healing.
- People have also used Turmeric to fight cancer and Alzheimer's Disease, and as a treatment for depression, among other things.
Turmeric's many beneficial properties make it a great, natural, and tasty way to help relieve the inflammation and pain related to back and neck pain!
