Hockey player Gaetano Moirano has been suffering with back pain since he was 11-years-old. Gaetano has been playing hockey for pretty much all his life. Hockey being a very physical sport he was not surprised when he started feeling back pain. Being only 23 years old Gaetano did not want to risk having surgery. He also didn’t want to miss hockey season trying to recover.
Gaetano decided to come into the Illinois Back Institute before hockey season started in hopes he would be feeling better and ready to start the season. His MRI showed that he was suffering from 2 bulging discs and a fractured vertebra. His pain level when he came in was at an 8 or 9.The pain was so bad that he couldn’t sleep throughout the whole night. “It was so bad that I would have shooting pain down my leg all day and well I couldn’t obviously sleep so I couldn’t recover cause I wasn’t sleeping fully,” said Gaetano.
Gaetano had two main goals; to sleep throughout the night without pain and to get back to playing hockey. Within the first 3-4 weeks he slept throughout the night without any pain and has since then been sleeping without pain! He also just started up training for hockey just a few weeks ago. He is now feeling strong and confident that he will be able to get out their next season and play without pain.
“I love the people that work here,” said Gaetano. Gaetano really enjoyed coming in and working with the staff. He said they were very knowledgeable and helped give him the tools to getting stronger. “I definitely recommend it! It doesn’t matter what age, you just have to come in and start the healing now!” said Gaetano Moirano.
